Medicare Health Insurance Plans Made Easy

What is Medicare?

Medicare is a federal health insurance program in the United States that provides coverage for individuals aged 65 and older, as well as certain younger people with disabilities and people with end-stage renal disease. It is divided into several parts, each covering different aspects of healthcare services.

What Are the Parts of Medicare?

Part A: Hospital Insurance

Part A covers inpatient hospital stays, skilled nursing facility care, hospice care, and some home health care services. Most people do not have to pay a premium for Part A if they or their spouse paid Medicare taxes while working.

Part B: Medical Insurance

Part B covers doctor visits, outpatient care, preventive services, and some home health care services. There is a standard premium for Part B, which is based on your income.

Part C: Medicare Advantage

Also known as Medicare Advantage Plans, Part C is offered by private insurance companies approved by Medicare. These plans provide all of your Part A and Part B coverage and usually include additional benefits like vision, dental, and prescription drug coverage.

Part D: Prescription Drug Coverage

Part D plans are also offered by private insurance companies approved by Medicare. These plans help cover the cost of prescription drugs. You can enroll in a standalone Part D plan to add drug coverage to Original Medicare, or you can choose a Medicare Advantage plan that includes prescription drug coverage.
